HTML Day San Diego 2026
Who
YOU.
What
HTML Day is a day to write HTML! Everyone can write HTML! If you can type an emoji and save a file you can write an HTML page. We'll get together and experience the pure enjoyment of human creation in the form of web pages! New pages! 1990s style MySpace pages. The web belongs to YOU.
I (Joe) learned about HTML Day too late last year, but from what I can tell lots of cities had great fun doing this. Check out 2025
Doesn't that look like fun? Yes, I think so too.
When
August 8, 2026
10:30am — 12:30pm
There are events in your city, or maybe make one
Where
TBD
My first idea is to do this at the river park next to Snapdragon Stadium. It's around the corner from the Costco Ikea and the Mission Valley SDPL. But we could do it at a beach, or Balboa Park. Some public page with simple transit (river park is close to Fenton Parkway stop on the Green trolley line) and parking and maybe power outlets. In theory, we could reserve it.
Why
Web pages are fun! Go make a web page!
But seriously, everyone can make web pages.

What about power outlets and wifi
I think we can get away with tethering and chargers.
We don't need the internet to make web pages. Just a local file.
There will be folks who are experts there who can help you get set up.
Will it be hot?
Let's try to bring canopies or choose a shady spot. The River Park has tables under the trolley line that work pretty good.
Stuff to bring
Laptop or other thing you can edit and save text files on and with a web browser on it. Folding chair or blanket to sit on. Hydration. Art making stuff in general.
